Sacred Saplings Kids Herbal Club: Rooted & Ready

A Winter Herbal Kids’ Class Exploring the Magic of Roots and Resilience

Winter is a season of quiet growth, and in this January Sacred Saplings class, children will explore the hidden world beneath the soil: roots.

Through science demonstrations, creative art, and gentle movement, kids will learn how plant roots work and why they are so important for strength, nourishment, and stability. We’ll explore how roots absorb water and nutrients, store energy, and support plants during the winter months in kid-friendly language designed to spark curiosity and confidence.

Children will create a tissue paper flower with twine “roots”, symbolizing both visible growth and the unseen support systems that help us thrive. We’ll also watch a simple demonstration showing how roots move water through a plant!

Sacred Saplings is on a mission to blend science in environmental education with mental health and social adaptability. These classes aim to weave social and emotional learning by helping children reflect on what helps them feel grounded, safe, and supported. We also will occasionally weave in a short, calming movement, breathing activity, or mental-awareness-boosting activity to encourage body awareness, emotional regulation, and a sense of steadiness.

Sacred Saplings classes are designed to be:

• Calm, inclusive, and developmentally supportive

• Rooted (pun intended 😜) in nature, science, and emotional wellness

No prior herbal knowledge is needed. This class is perfect for children who enjoy hands-on learning, art, nature, and thoughtful conversation. It's also a great way to make new friends!

Perfect for ages 5+, this class blends science, nature, and wellness in a safe and magical learning space.

Sacred Saplings classes are offered by Sacred Spirit Herbals with donations provided by the community. Please donate what you can to keep these classes affordable for all! All materials are provided.🌿

RSVPs are required to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone. Please submit an RSVP (even a $0 donation) for each child participating. Space is limited, so reserve your spot today! Tickets will automatically close at 5 PM on January 30th. This gives us time to prepare the supplies and the space for the class.
