Medicine Drum Creation Workshop

Current research now shows the therapeutic effects of drumming techniques that has been used for thousands of years by indigenous cultures around the planet to treat a variety of conditions. Drumming accelerates physical healing, stimulates the release of emotional trauma, and produces deeper self-awareness. Drumming gives us an experience where we can be free to connect with ourselves and others, in order to release, restore and heal. These drums are great for drumming circles or meditation.

Create your own personal medicine drum in a sacred way through ceremony, honoring the animal and its Medicine. The hides used for the frame drum heads carry their own unique energy, sound and medicine. When choosing your hide, take time to consider what medicine calls you and what medicine would you like to share through your own unique beat in the world.

• DEER MEDICINE  teaches us to use the power of gentleness with ourselves and to touch the hearts and minds of wounded beings who are seeking healing. It offers safety to those who are seeking peace.
• ELK MEDICINE  is about stamina and has a curious type of warrior energy that teaches that pacing yourself will allow you to go the distance. Elk’s medicine will teach us how to make the best use of our energy, helping us to take on no more than we need to accomplish, and to persist on our chosen route until we have fulfilled our goals.
• BUFFALO MEDICINE  is knowing that abundance is present when all relations are honored as sacred and when gratitude is expressed to every living part of creation.
• HORSE MEDICINE  symbolizes personal drive, passion, and appetite for freedom. Let the Horse leap over perceived boundaries in your life, opening a path to your goals, particularly physically and emotionally.
• BULL MEDICINE teaches stability without stubbornness. It can help you understand the relationships needed to work with the ordinary or mundane aspects of life to make them the fertile successes they are intended to be.

At the end of the workshop, we will conclude with a meditative drum journey to energetically connect and discover the name or purpose of your new medicine drum.

Pricing – includes materials from drum, drum sticks, and workshop.   I will need to know what size and type of hide you want. In order to get the supplies together, registration closes 1 week prior to drum making. A $150 deposit required at registration with remaining balance due at event.
