About the event

Meditative Art is applying a meditative state of mind while expressing creativity. Meditative Art is less about drawing and more about slowing down and opening up to your inner creative and intuitive flow. It’s a simple, reflective creative practice that anyone can do!

Each class begins with a quick overview of the topic of the day and see examples for inspiration. Then, Michelle will walk the class through a guided relaxation meditation. Immediately after, we will use the provided colored pencils, crayons, and markers on drawing paper to create artwork. If you would rather use a different medium such as paint and canvas, please feel free to bring your own supplies.

An example of a class topic would be focusing on the mandala, an integrated structure organized around a unifying center. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself and can be found repeatedly in nature. The mandala appears in all aspects of life: the celestial circles of the earth, sun, and moon, as well as conceptual circles of friends, family, and community. It is a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite. You will be shown examples in nature as well as examples of mandala artwork. Then, you will make their own personal mandala.

$20/adults $10/students class fee
