Beginner Hula Dance

No experience necessary! This is a beginner hula class, which will cover basic hula steps and hand motions. Choreography will be taught in the auana (modern) style of dance. You will be taught  not only dance technique but also be immersed into the Hawaiian culture and language.

Ashley Chewning was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. She began her journey in hula and Tahitian dance while living on O’ahu, Hawai’i, where she fell in love with the different Polynesian cultures. She began her training in hula in 2013 and Tahitian in 2014 with Moments Unforgettable Dance Studio of Honolulu under the direction of Kumu (teacher) Crystale Lehua Cayaban. There she performed at many different venues around the island including the Hawai’i Pro Bowl, Waikiki and Ala Moana Center Stage.
